50 Street

This is the 50th Street Station along the BMT West End Line (D Train) in the Borough Park Neighborhood in Brooklyn. This section of the line runs above New Utrect Avenue (above my French Connection post earlier this month). This area is not far from Bensonhurst and about half way to Coney Island.

For some reason, this shot reminds me of a scene out of a manga or anime series. The red hair also reminds me of a female victim from A Clockwork Orange, maybe Pennywise from Stephen King's IT, or perhaps I just watch waaaayyy to much crap...lol

Sedentary

Are these NYPD officers permanently affixed to these barricades live barnacles, or are they just making sure they don't float away. All I know is that they better watch it, or they might begin to look like the guy on the left if they aren't careful ;)

Photographed this from a somewhat elevated vacant slab; dozens of homeless people living under these viaducts and bridges were evicted by the city earlier this year...

A Manhattan bound Number 2 Train approaches the Simpson Street Station in The South Bronx.

This was taken near Wall Street and Broadway in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan. Once again, we are graced with a charming puddle reflection.

This mural is located on 2nd Avenue in East Harlem. If your a rust fan like I am, you gotta love the rusty red at the bottom.

True Grit...Scenes From Irish Hill

Both of these photos were taken at the corner of Davidson and Maryland in the Indianapolis neighborhood of Irish Hill. This area, for the most part, lies abandoned, with only the streets and building foundations remain. The Viaducts and underpasses of Irish Hill used to play a role as a makeshift homeless community until they were evicted earlier this year.

Midwest Sky

Both these shots were taken in Indianapolis, which during all seasons, possesses the ability to flash us some wicked skies. From beautiful icy glazed sunsets in the winter to ominous tornado spawning wall clouds in the spring and summer, the midwest has it all...

This first shot was taken at the I-65/Delaware Street interchange with downtown in the background. A storm was rolling in while a sunset was in progress...

Random People on the Streets of Flushing

Flushing, a neighborhood in the New York City Borough of Queens is one of the busiest and most diverse in all of the city. The neighborhood is home to LaGuardia Airport and The New York Mets among other things. Here are a few photos of people around the neighborhood...

Layn' It Down I and II

Both of these shots are in the same location of this previous post in the South Meridian/Concord neighborhood of Indianapolis... This area demonstrates some of the best graffiti that Indianapolis has to offer. Historically German, this working class neighborhood on the south side of Indianapolis is home to Sacred Heart Church, Vollrath Tavern, Concord Neighborhood Center, and several historic buildings and row houses.

The Modern Car Chase Scene was Born Here!

Anyone seen the 1971 Academy Award winning film French Connection, starring Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider? The real time chase scene toward the end went down in film history as the godfather of the modern cinematic car chase scene. It all went down here on New Utrecht Avenue below the BMT West End Line in Brooklyn. This was shot at the corner of New Utrect Avenue and 50th Street.

The Crumbling Brick of Talbott Street

Its ironic how neglect and disinvestment can preserve historic detail. In the Old Northside neighborhood of Indianapolis, there is a stretch of Talbott Street (near 14th Street) that is still paved in its crumbling original brick surfacing. It should definitely be stated that the Old Northside neighborhood is one of the most revitalized Indianapolis inner city neighborhoods, but there are some places, particularly places near Pennsylvania and 16th Streets that still need some love.

Orthodox Dorothy

I was walking through the neighborhood of Borough Park, an Orthodox Jewish community on the southwest side of Brooklyn. One could imagine my temptation here to snap a quick candid of a girl dressed much like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. I guess there's no place like Brooklyn ;)

Dumplings are Due on Mulberry Street

Well, there are no power failures or Cold War paranoia here, just a street scene from Mulberry Street in Manhattan's Chinatown. The Court of Two Sisters row houses are located on Illinois and 15th Streets in Indianapolis. They were built in the 1890's and are located near Methodist Hospital on the very near northwest side.

The Pride of East Harlem

The so called Pride of East Harlem (as stated on signs outside the complex) is actually called the Taino Towers. The towers were completed in 1979 and are 35 floors each. I've been to the towers for appointments, but have never been to the top; being as far uptown as they are (near 125 St and 2 Ave), I can imagine some amazing views of Manhattan, The Bronx, and the East and Harlem Rivers...

South Side Charm / Money and Weeds to Burn

In the Concord/South Meridian neighborhood of Indianapolis, near the corner of Palmer and Talbott. This neighborhood is located about a mile south of downtown and both Sacred Heart Church and The Vollrath Tavern are historic landmarks that reside this area.

The Mighty N Train

The N route which runs on the BMT Broadway Line runs through the boroughs of Queens Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York City. The N Route's rolling stock of newer R160B trains, which are quite advanced and provides a smoother, more comfortable ride...

Urban Ubiquities: The Crosswalk

The crosswalk, a pedestrian staple in any urban environment. Not only do they assist with pedestrians crossing the street in an organized and safe manner, but they also provide for me a basis to compose an interesting shot. Here are a few examples:
