The 45th Degree

(61st and Roosevelt, near the subway and LIRR stations)

Welcome to the continuation of the Queens infrastructure marathon, to ensure diversification enjoyment, I managed to make it out of Astoria and appear in nearby Woodside.  What would have made this shot really awesome, is if some retro cars would have happened to have been parked here on Roosevelt Avenue.  I really can't complain, the rusty steel girders and rivets are satisfying in their own right.

Running with the Cars

I frequently see people walking or jogging in bike or lanes and I can’t seem to help but think how ridiculously idiotic they look.  I can only speculate that their reason for engaging in this behavior is that they believe that all the people walking on the sidewalks will slow them down, even in an industrial ghost town stretch of street such as this.  I can get annoyed with cyclist that don’t follow traffic rules, ride on the sidewalks, endanger pedestrians, etc, but I’m in their corner on this one; and when this pedestrian has to have some fixie’s handlebars surgically removed from their rectum, perhaps in time they will change their behavior.

Caution

Light paint attempt, exposure fail.  I had the shutter improperly configured, so the effect was very faint.  I did however, like the way the shot came out, so I kept it.  Taken in the 5 Pointz/Court Square area of Queens.
