The Temptress

As stated before, I rarely trespass to get my photographs, but that doesn’t mean I am never tempted.  Taken from the 9th Avenue Station, along the BMT West End Line in Brooklyn.

Through the Ties

I spy a traffic signal and some freehand on the third rail that resemble an eyeglasses prescription.  Taken from the Ft. Hamilton Avenue Station along the BMT West End Line (D Train) in Brooklyn.

Icy Walk along New Utrect Avenue

My photographic documentation of the city tend to slow to the crawl during winter months.  I find it difficult to muster the motivation to squeeze in time for a photographic section during inclimate weather, but something had to give, and it occurred on a windy, 18 degree, February day.  This walk took place on New Utrect Avenue in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn.

62nd/New Utrect Avenue Subway Station

The 62nd Street/New Utrect Avenue Subway Station is a small transit complex of two connected stations servicing two lines of the New York City Subway.  This station serves the BMT West End Line (D train) and the BMT Sea Beach Line (N Train) and is located in the Boro (also known as Borough) Park area of Brooklyn, a neighborhood close to the neighborhoods of Bensonhurst and Coney Island.  The New Utrect Avenue station was built in 1915 and is in the National Registry of Historic Places.  These photos document the platforms, exterior, transfer crosswalk, and the aesthetics of the stations.

Hi Tech 2000

A street scene in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Borough Park. This neighborhood is located on the southwest section of the Borough, near Bensonhurst. It is also home to the largest Orthodox Jewish community in the United States.

50 Street

This is the 50th Street Station along the BMT West End Line (D Train) in the Borough Park Neighborhood in Brooklyn. This section of the line runs above New Utrect Avenue (above my French Connection post earlier this month). This area is not far from Bensonhurst and about half way to Coney Island.

The Modern Car Chase Scene was Born Here!

Anyone seen the 1971 Academy Award winning film French Connection, starring Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider? The real time chase scene toward the end went down in film history as the godfather of the modern cinematic car chase scene. It all went down here on New Utrecht Avenue below the BMT West End Line in Brooklyn. This was shot at the corner of New Utrect Avenue and 50th Street.

Orthodox Dorothy

I was walking through the neighborhood of Borough Park, an Orthodox Jewish community on the southwest side of Brooklyn. One could imagine my temptation here to snap a quick candid of a girl dressed much like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. I guess there's no place like Brooklyn ;)

You most definitely should view this one large...

Babe of Brooklyn

In a neighborhood called Borough Park (not far from Bensonhurst or Coney Island), which has a heavily dense Orthodox Jewish population. This makes for an incredibly quiet (almost surreal considering your in NYC) neighborhood on the weekends. Obviously a baby running alone down the sidewalk really caught my attention, but don't worry, her parents are on the stoop in the distance.
