Slope Canyon
Architecture that is iconic of many street scenes in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Park Slop. The arterial streets are lined with buildings of this nature, which are a commercial/residential mix and the minor cross streets, which are cladded with historic brownstone homes.

The New Order of Things
Stepped in to get a deli to get a hero sandwich, stepped out into a Hitchcock film. I've been experimenting with using color gradients within my photograph as of late. Taken near the corner of 20th and 5th in the Brooklyn neighborhood or Park Slope...

The Urban Photographer's Blues
What can I say, I've got the urban photographer's Blues... It was a nicely lit day for photos, and I was out on the prowl with my camera to get a great shot. There it was, I found it! It was a historic art deco subway station in Park Slope, Brooklyn. I begin to shoot it, and this fellow, whom resembled Jodie Foster's pimp in the film Taxi Driver (played by Harvey Keitel) stepped into my shot and began to swear and perform obscene gestures at yours truly. See attached photo for said crazy dude...
You may ask, what does it matter what some random, wild-eyed dude thats five days off his haloperidol says anyway? In isolated incident form, nothing at all, but this happens to me all the time...Regardless of the location, both civilians and members of law enforcement alike. So all of my ranting boils down to this very question: what is it about a photographer that seems to invoke the most basic paranoid instincts in people? Its obvious I'm not some sleazy paparazzi photog shoving a gigantic zoom lens in some has-been celebrity's face, nor am I some voyeur sporting an erection clicking away in the bushes. Regardless, people will dive out of the way of a camera as if the shutter will rob them of their very soul...Interesting

Urban Ubiquities: The Crosswalk
The crosswalk, a pedestrian staple in any urban environment. Not only do they assist with pedestrians crossing the street in an organized and safe manner, but they also provide for me a basis to compose an interesting shot. Here are a few examples:
At the corner of M and Wisconsin Streets in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington DC.

Near the corner of Lenox and 125th in the neighborhood of Harlem in Manhattan, New York City...

This crosswalk was taken on a weary stretch of East Washington Street in the Wholesale District of Indianapolis...

I originally titled this shot in Flickr as SSRI Crosswalk, but wasn't a hit; I suppose a few psychiatrist may find it humorous, but hey, this blog doesn't have the appropriate branding. This crosswalk was taken at the corner of Calvert and Connecticut Avenue in the Adams-Morgan neighborhood of Washington DC.

The crosswalk between jail and bail; taken in downtown Indianapolis, near the City County Building and the County Jail in Indianapolis...

Brooklyn's response to The Beatles' album Abbey Road. This crosswalk is near the crossings of Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues, near the neighborhoods of Prospect Heights and Park Slope.
