Indianapolis Neighborhoods - Emerson Heights / Ellenberger Park

Emerson Heights is located on Indianapolis' east side near the intersection of 10th and Emerson, close to Irvington. The neighborhood is home to Ellenberger Park; a park that I used to ride my bike around when I was young. It has some decent trails, and is right off of the Pleasant Run Trail.

10th and Emerson

New York Street and Emerson Avenue

Many Classic Houses along Emerson Avenue, 10th Street, and along Ellenberger Park...

This looks eerily similar to the South Village Neighborhood I covered earlier this month...

There are still a few houses that need some work, but not many...

On Capitol Avenue

Looking at the Stutz building on the northwest end of downtown. This was a composition experiment I did with a new lens.

Nice day at Fall Creek Place

Taken around the Joseph W. Summers Memorial Bridge at Fall Creek Parkway and Meridian Street...

Looking toward Fall Creek Place...

The architecture of the bridges in the area use the same Neo-Classical style of the Meridian Street bridge...

Along Fall Creek Parkway...

Cantankerous little mofos....

Brookville and Ritter

This is at the intersection of Brookville Rd and Ritter Avenue on Indianapolis' southeast side...

There's also one at Southeastern and State further west...

Looking at the intersection from a block north on Ritter.

Pure Indiana

Out of all the Hoosier stereotypes that are out there, the one where Indiana folk equate basketball on the same level with religion is one of the most persistent...A film was made about the fervor of Indiana high school basketball after all.

16th Street and the Monon trail...

Pieces of Architecture from St. Joseph

Just north of downtown is the neighborhood of St. Joseph, which contains many interesting forms of architecture. Here are a few examples:

From Ft. Wayne Avenue...

From Pennsylvania Street

From Alabama Street...

Indianapolis' Own - The Steer Inn

At the northeast corner of 10th and Emerson in Emerson Heights is a classic resutrant called The Steer Inn. In diner tradition, breakfast is served all day...

Spring Nightlife

April showers may bring May's flowers, but it also brings more nightlife to the streets of Indianapolis...

There was considerable traffic down Meridian street; this is probably about 1:00AM...

Of course Broad Ripple Village has vibrant night life...

These two were preaching over loud speaker to the people on Broad Ripple Avenue about sin (are they even 21 yet?). I think my taking this picture was the closest thing to acknowledgement they got...

The cops assigned to nightclub duty mingle with the crowd...Which is kind of cool.

On Market Street downtown...

On Delaware Street, near the City County Building...I had to satisfy attraction to neon lights...
