Fusing of Alternate Dimensions

How about that?  More trains!  As I attempt to continue a regular blogging frequency, much of my work has been captured along the paths in which I commute, hence all the photos emphasizing transit.  I'm can't complain though, I enjoy photographing trains.  Light and fun on Saturday, surreal on Sunday.  A double exposure of sorts of a 7 Train departing Queensboro Plaza to Flushing.

Beaming

The Flushing line, also known as the IRT Flushing Line, or simply the 7 train, is unique in many different ways.  It quite possibly one of the most ethnically diverse lines in the system, but what is demonstrated here, is a fragment one if its many phases of architectural styles.  In Woodside, where this is photographed, this elevated section bears of a more utilitarian girder feel, but as you get to Queens Boulevard, it beings to resemble that of an old European Viaduct.

Colorful in Queens

Its been a while since I posted anything relating to trains, rail, stations or transit of any kind, so here we go. This saturated shot was captured from the platform of the 82nd Street station (7 Train) in Jackson Heights.

Its gets a little cold and dark under the 7 train (noisy too).  Taken in the Court Square area of Long Island City, Queen.

Hunters Point Dilemma

Every once in a while, I will enter the dilemma, black and white or color? Being that this is my first attempt to utilize textures in my photographs, there's a limit in which I wish to confound myself ;) From this perspective, this view actually looks as if it were shot in Midtown Manhattan; this view was actually shot across the East River in Queens. Taken from the Hunters Point Avenue subway station (IRT Flushing Line).

From Long Island City With Love III - Nocturnal Edition

This is the third installment in my Long Island City, Queens series, which features the Jackson Avenue and Davis Street vicinity. This area is close to the Long Island City Courthouse.

Many of the industrial buildings in this area have become a canvas for graffiti artists. Some of the graffiti in this area reminds me of what you can find in Brooklyn.


The 7 Train curves into the 45th Road – Court House Square station in Long Island City along the IRT Flushing Line. The green atop the train indicates that its running local. This line is sometimes dubbed the International Express due to the various ethnic neighborhoods along its stops. John Rocker (of Atlanta Braves fame) once blasted this train, Mets fans, and all of NYC in general with an Archie Bunker-esque diatribe; as I always say, words spoken by d-bags need not be taken seriously...
