Another Snow Storm / Manhattan Snow Globe

Snow storms have hit all over the United States in the past few days. Just as New York City has been recovering from the 12/26/10 blizzard, another 8-9 inches of snow was delivered to the region. I was at a friends apartment in Manhattan during the storm, and just as predictably as Mayor Bloomberg would recite the words "rest assured", I took my camera to the roof.

A Rainy Night en El Barrio

East Harlem, also known as Spanish Harlem is a neighborhood in Manhattan, situated East of, you guessed it, Harlem. These shots were taken on a stretch of Lexington Avenue between of 116th and 117th streets.

Some rain drops fell on my lens, so I decided to take advantage of the inconvenience by experimenting; smudging the water droplets over the entire lens. The end result was the interesting lighting you see here.

The Pride of East Harlem

The so called Pride of East Harlem (as stated on signs outside the complex) is actually called the Taino Towers. The towers were completed in 1979 and are 35 floors each. I've been to the towers for appointments, but have never been to the top; being as far uptown as they are (near 125 St and 2 Ave), I can imagine some amazing views of Manhattan, The Bronx, and the East and Harlem Rivers...
