Triplets

Taken at the corner of Washington and College on the near east side of downtown Indianapolis, along the Pennsylvania Railroad viaduct.  The area of Washington Street has seen recent reconstruction.

Welcome to the County

One of the many housing/processing facilites in the sprawling Indianapolis/Marion County jail system. This particular one is at the corner of Washington and College, and is ironically named, Liberty Hall...

Random Street Views

Looking along a one block stretch of East Washington Street (between Pennsylvania and Meridian Streets), which is slowly seeing new restaurants being added...

Looking South from the literal heart of Indianapolis...

Taken from Wabash Street, near Delaware...Not exactly a pretty view, but I just can't resist fire escapes...

The first two shots are worth a large view...

Washington Street, Front and Center

This stretch of Washington Street that runs through the heart of the Wholesale district is slowly beginning to see new life. Several restaurants have called this stretch of some of the oldest buildings in downtown home.

This end needs some work although the shadow casted by the Barnes and Thornburg building performs a merciful service for the McQuat building.
I've been experimenting with usings flickr with this blog; I have made notes on the flickr page for some of these images; feel free to leave some of your own if you would like. Clicking each image will link to their respective flickr page.

The Good, The Bad, The Sky

Not exactly good utilization of urban space, but a lovely sky...Take on E. Washington Street, between East Street and New Jersey Street.

Downtown Post-Rain Walk

I ended up taking a few shots of downtown after the rain stopped. These shots were taken on E. Washington Street and Monument Circle.

Its hard to classify any of the items here to a specific intersection, but are close to Washington and Southeastern...

Actually at Washington and College, but liked it enought to include it here.

Rusted Beauty

More shots from the 'where neglect feels so right' category...

Urban Nature

When I was a child, I had a fascination with thistles(not sure if that's proper plural form). They are like many things in life; they have a certain grace to them that draws you to touch them, but you assume some liabilities in doing so...
Taken near Maryland and Alabama Streets...

On South Rural Street

This neighborhood is a classic Indianapolis urban neighborhood with many diverse characteristics similar to most neighborhoods around Indy...Well maintained homes, blighted homes, commercial space, and industrial sites are the composition of the fabric.

I know I feature many of these old underpasses on this blog, but they're so cool!

This is what awaits you on the other side of the underpass...

This is probably one of my favorite shots on this blog to date! The question, 'Did I do that?' always makes me feel like a kid again...

How can I show so many skyline shots on this site...Let me count the ways...

Approaching Washington Street...

Distracted driver...Don't hit me bro!!! This is the northwest corner of Washington and Rural.

Abandon Stretch

On Washington Street, near the new I-65/70 interchange and Southeastern Avenue. I've always loved this stretch, but hope that the new, beast of an interchange in the area doesn't seal it's fate of having an abandoned status for the rest of it's days. At this point, it is neither easy or safe to get to it from downtown.

Mmmmooooooooo!

Anyone notice the small cow on the corner of Washington and Meridian Street? The first day, he gave me a business card pitching his livestock at parties business, and the second day, he handed me a dollar.

Brief Irvington evening visit

I was passing through Irvington on the way to the far East side. I had a few minutes early and decided to take a few pictures of Washington Street in the Irvington neighborhood. I definitely plan on doing a much more complete post on it soon.

I missed the actual sunset, but the sky is still quite a sight.

This is a market that sells locally grown, organic produce. They have a lot of interesting artwork on the windows (shown in next pic).

Across Washington Street.
