In Competition With Vices

There are vices and then there are vices.  The vices illustrated above are functional in character and while may cause harm to a sufferer in the long term, one can still perform their day to day duties.  My personal vices are of a similar type and  include (but are not limited to) donuts and Star Trek; while these vices have been known to affect my social life from time to time, I've never been compelled to sell my first born or live in abject squalor as a result.  As for coffee and cigarettes?  I never touch the stuff.

The Corner of Red, Green, and Grey

Taken at the corner of Bedford and Myrtle, a street corner in my neighborhood in Brooklyn.  Bedford avenue is an arterial in the area that carries quite a bit of traffic.

Manhattan Eruption

Someone told me this shot looks like the entrance to hell.  I’ve never been, so I can’t discount the accuracy of the claim, but I do know it could always be worse…  Taken near the municipal building in Lower Manhattan.

Liquor Lit Tree

There’s nothing quite like neon signs at night, and this one has the added bonus of lighting a winterized tree.  Taken on Roebling Street, near the Williamsburg Bridge on the Brooklyn side.

Hellfire Airport Tunnel

So many airports are sporting a variation on this tunnel-with-a-futuristic-lighting-and-whoosh-sound-audio-track motif. Chicago-O'hare, Indianapolis International, Atlanta International, and in this case Detroit Metro Airport, all seem to want to keep up with the Jones'. Perhaps something uniquely world class would be in order; nah, this is America ;)

Oh well, I don't care at this point...I'm sick of airlines, airports, and weather reports...Just get me home!

Chrysler Reflection

I'm on a bit of a red light phase at this point, so if it seems like I am or in the near future, beating it into the ground, I apologize...Well not really ;) This is one of those shots where I used an improvised tripod, in this case, an overflowing trash can. Looking down Lexington from 53rd Street in Midtown Manhattan.

The Great 8th Avenue Red Light Stare Down

There's nothing quite like standing in the middle of 8th Avenue with a monopod. Putting myself in harms way from the likes of speeding taxi cabs and BMW driving upper class Manhattan-ites, this coincidental shot was acquired while doing some shooting for another project. Taken near the corner of 14th in Chelsea, Manhattan.

Unlike Wisconsin Senator Joseph McCarthy, my claims of seeing red everywhere are actually credible. There is no pattern to the order of the photos in this post, they just feature a significant amount of red.

A Manhattan bound Number 2 Train approaches the Simpson Street Station in The South Bronx.

This was taken near Wall Street and Broadway in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan. Once again, we are graced with a charming puddle reflection.

This mural is located on 2nd Avenue in East Harlem. If your a rust fan like I am, you gotta love the rusty red at the bottom.
