Urban Ubiquities: The Crosswalk
The crosswalk, a pedestrian staple in any urban environment. Not only do they assist with pedestrians crossing the street in an organized and safe manner, but they also provide for me a basis to compose an interesting shot. Here are a few examples:
At the corner of M and Wisconsin Streets in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington DC.

Near the corner of Lenox and 125th in the neighborhood of Harlem in Manhattan, New York City...

This crosswalk was taken on a weary stretch of East Washington Street in the Wholesale District of Indianapolis...

I originally titled this shot in Flickr as SSRI Crosswalk, but wasn't a hit; I suppose a few psychiatrist may find it humorous, but hey, this blog doesn't have the appropriate branding. This crosswalk was taken at the corner of Calvert and Connecticut Avenue in the Adams-Morgan neighborhood of Washington DC.

The crosswalk between jail and bail; taken in downtown Indianapolis, near the City County Building and the County Jail in Indianapolis...

Brooklyn's response to The Beatles' album Abbey Road. This crosswalk is near the crossings of Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues, near the neighborhoods of Prospect Heights and Park Slope.

Scenes from the City-County Building Observation Deck
On the 28th floor of Indianapolis' City-County Building is a time machine to 1960's, know as it's observation deck... I took my 250mm lens up there for some shots of areas around downtown.
The service elevator drops you off here; the 26th floor. You then catch another elevator to the 28th floor.

It has probably looked this way since 1962, they year the building was constructed...

The industrial south east part of town; I am rather proud of this shot; I highly recommend you view this large on black. You may click the image to do so.

Random Street Views
Looking along a one block stretch of East Washington Street (between Pennsylvania and Meridian Streets), which is slowly seeing new restaurants being added...

Looking South from the literal heart of Indianapolis...

Taken from Wabash Street, near Delaware...Not exactly a pretty view, but I just can't resist fire escapes...

The first two shots are worth a large view...
