On North Shadeland

I never took Karate when I was young, but many of my classmates in school attended classes here. I can't completely remember if this building was something else at one time....While I'm reminiscing about childhood memories, I wonder if the not too far away Rollercave at 21st and Post is still there? I used to attend school rollerskating parties there and would always be limping into school the next day with a black and blue buttocks...

The Northeast 45

Massachusetts Avenue is one of the 45 degree angle streets coming into the square mile of Indianapolis, per Alexander Ralston's original design. This post explores Mass Ave going into the northeast side of Indianapolis.

The Other Side of Cottage Home

Located northeast of the intersection of 10th and Massachusetts, it is literally on the other side of the Cottage Home neighborhood. This shows some examples of the warehouses that are intermixed with residential homes that Kevin mentioned in a comment about Cottage Home.

This is quite a large industrial complex; the interesting colors make it look less mundane and boxy.




The most dangerous shot of the day...Being butted up against a retaining wall that is taller than me while high speed traffic is whizzing by makes me nervous...


As luck would have it, a train just happen to come by when I was here...

There are many abandoned buildings like this along this stretch of Massachusetts and track; I intend on coming back and explore these some more.

On Northeastern Mass Ave

This area is Massachesetts Avenue is located between College Avenue and 10th Street, near Chatham Arch.

If given enough time, I could think of a thousand different uses for this classic Art Deco building other than that of a bus service depot.

I love the detail on this place.

Indianapolis Neighborhoods: Cottage Home

This neighborhood is situated between the northern section of Massacheusetts Avenue and Arsenal Tech along Oriental Street; not far from Woodruff Place.

There are many unique markers within the neighborhood.






The entire neighborhood has a rustic feel similar to what you might find in Nashville Indiana.

Many classic homes here; some are completely restored, and some are vacant or in transition. They are unique, colorful, and a mixture of classic and modern styles.

A beautiful, blue-eyed cat is giving me some attitude.
