A Fertile Mother by the Sea

Its impossible to determine how much of these are actually hers.  Equally impossible to determine (for me at least) is if she isn't in fact a he, but that possible revelation doesn't mesh well with this post's title, which I'm unduly proud of.  So here she is, the hardworking, dedicated mother of (x)^n chicks.  Taken in the Edgemere area of The Rockaways.

Mirage

Just a little bit of ducks in duotone on this Sunday evening.  The Lower East Side skyline from the Brooklyn Waterfront, near the Williamsburg Bridge.

Nice day at Fall Creek Place

Taken around the Joseph W. Summers Memorial Bridge at Fall Creek Parkway and Meridian Street...

Looking toward Fall Creek Place...

The architecture of the bridges in the area use the same Neo-Classical style of the Meridian Street bridge...

Indianapolis Intersections - Prospect Street and Pleasant Run Pkwy

This is the intersection of Prospect Street and Pleasant Run Pkwy. On the southeast side of Indianapolis, it is only a few blocks from the old Indianapolis Coke plant. Right by the railroad bridge, there is a park bench that sits by Pleasant Run.

Prospect Street.

The old railroad bridge that is near the intersection. I've observed and have taken so many pictures of the old railroad bridges around town, and no two are exactly alike.

A reader left a comment on a previous post giving me a tip for this location. While I was taking pictures of the Indianapolis Coke plant, I saw this waterfall and remembered their comment. It's an interesting scene to see in an industrial, somewhat dirty area around the plant.

Mmmmm combined sewer/storm water drainage.... I had to take deliberate positions to exclude this from the previous shots.

Indianapolis Relics - Longacre Park

Once a recreational park which featured a large swimming pool, has since become a mobile home park. I've had difficulty finding history on this place, and the only information I do have are anecdotal in nature from friends and members of my family. I'm not sure exactly when the park was established, but the railroad bridge arches indicate that they were built in 1902, and both my parents and grandparents enjoyed the place when it served the South side as a recreational place.

Railroad bridge and Entrance to Longacre park.

Inside the bridge archway.
Lick Creek, which mainly carries runoff from Longacre, Beech Grove, and other places.

Longacre Lake, which appears to play and important part of handling runoff in this low lying flood plane.

Here is some of the interesting infrastructure that is in place for water control.
