NYC, Rearranged

Going this day forward, the Brooklyn Bridge shall be rerouted to Midtown, the Manhattan Bridge to Battery Park, and a few major skyscrapers will also be relocated. What fun one can have with double exposures. Taken from the Brooklyn Bridge Park / Empire-Fulton Ferry Park / Dumbo area of Brooklyn. When the Superbowl is going on, this is what I do.

Evening Walk along the Manhattan Bridge

The Brooklyn Bridge gets all the glory, but I tend to enjoy the Manhattan Bridge more myself.  The walkway tends to be seedier in appearance (with the graffiti, rust, and subway trains roaring by) than the Brooklyn bridge, but that makes for a less crowded walkway.  More room for me, less tourists in my shots, and since my hearing is already impaired, I don't mind the trains!

Good Morning Chinatown

These shots were taken in Chinatown, at the foot of the Manhattan Bridge. It was a chilly fall morning about 6:00am; I exited the the subway and walked towards the East River because I wanted to get some strong sunrise shots over the water. This motivation was fueled by the fact that it had been raining for days, followed by more overcast skies. A certain excitement was upon me for autumn is my favorite season for photography. Autumn is comfortable and colorful to both my lens and I and provides a renewed sense of inspiration. I will stop the rambling before it starts; here are some early morning shots of Chinatown in Manhattan.

Well OK, I wouldn't swim in the East River, but I did stand at its edge (at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservatory) and hung out with several young lovers making out, shooting some photos of this classic piece of infrastructure; the Manhattan Bridge...

Scenes From Vinegar Hill

Vinegar Hill is a neighborhood just due East of Dumbo in Brooklyn. Like dumbo, it was previously an industrial area that has seen revitalization by the art scene among others. I would also like to apologize in advance for I'm struck by the mood to make bad puns and jokes today (and it found its way in this post), so bear with me here ;)

A Day in DUMBO

Not the elephant that sports well endowed ears, but a neighborhood in Brooklyn called Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.

Both of these shots are from York Street, this one is looking at the Midtown skyline in Manhattan across the East River...
