Chicago Rail Yard Skywalk

Roosevelt Road traverses a massive rail yard; seen from a spacewalk like perspective. This was taken from the Willis Tower, but this yard is on the near south side of Chicago.

I wanted to use the extreme height (and distance from the surface) of the Willis tower observation deck and combine it with the inversion to give the shot a space walk feel. Imagine if you are walking on the surface of the moon or the hull of a ship orbiting Earth; this would be the perspective. This is the first time I've ever experimented with this concept and still don't know what to make of it.

The French Connection, Chicago Style

Anyone remember the car chase scene close to the end of the movie; I'm expecting Gene Hackman to come an run me down with a late model sedan...

Don't pick your feet in Poughkeepsie, please view this large on black; which can be done by clicking on the image.

The Heidelberger Papers...Expanded

Indianapolis is my hometown, and as the readers of this blog can definitely tell you, I LOVE to photograph it! One thing readers may not know is that, for personal and professional reasons, I travel to and photograph cities all over the country. I am in Chicago at least 10 times a year, New York City at least once a month, and other cities such as Kansas City (and other midwestern cities) and Washington DC once a year. I intend to incorporate images from these places and more into this blog.

As I Heidelberger-ify other cities, for obvious reasons, Indianapolis will still keep the lion's share of this blog. It is my hope my readers will enjoy the diversity I will be adding here.

I will begin with this shot from the corner of Balbo and State in the South Loop area of Chicago...

Definitely better if viewed large...
