On North Shadeland

I never took Karate when I was young, but many of my classmates in school attended classes here. I can't completely remember if this building was something else at one time....While I'm reminiscing about childhood memories, I wonder if the not too far away Rollercave at 21st and Post is still there? I used to attend school rollerskating parties there and would always be limping into school the next day with a black and blue buttocks...

It was a long time ago, but I think that building was the site of the infamous "Harem House" (strip club) in the 70's and early 80's.

That explains why the building doesn't look dojo-ish...

Different kind of movin' and kickin'.

Sorry Thundermutt, your wrong. Harem House was on pendleton pike in Lawrence, but yes it had the same sytle roof.
This site was a second Knobby's bar and restaurant with a polynesian theme. My brother worked there.

Just to let you know, that Roller Cave is still there, but it is quite a dive. I grew up right around the corner from the AOK Karate(Hartman Dr.) and went to Warren so I love these shots. And I love this entire site, keep up the good work! Would love to see more far Eastside if you get out there often.
