A City of Children
A vexed mother flings an uncooperative child on the seat next to where I sit on a public subway bench. Before I continue, it should be said stated that with the exception of a few children in my life that are dear to me, most kids seem to be quite astute to locating every last nerve of my being, then jabbing at them with an olive fork. Within the first sixty seconds of being seated next to me, I was jabbed four times with a right elbow and kicked three times with a right foot. By one minute, thirty seconds of the encounter, a small whiffle ball was dropped in my lap, which then rolled and fell under the bench. Before I could lean forward and assist in the retrieval the ball, an awkward moment occurred when the child rushed to the ground on all fours, digging between my feet. I looked to my left to see the parent's indifferent expression, followed by an equally indifferent shrug. I then looked right to appreciate this tag.

The Myrtle Platform
The platform of the Myrtle Avenue subway station in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. This station is one of three in relatively close proximity of where I live; I come here when I need to catch the J, Z, or M trains into the city or to JFK.

Trekking the Williamsburg Bridge
What exactly do I mean by trekking? Strolling on foot over the East River from Williamsburg Brooklyn to the Lower East Side of Manhattan with temperatures in the lower to mid 20’s with wind gusts of 35 mph…Hell no! My camera and I were warmly aboard a Manhattan bound J train, besides, getting strange looks from people as I excitedly bounced from window to window of the car getting my shots made the experience even more satisfying.
The Williamsburg Bridge is a productive, multimodal one; it serves automobiles, three subway routes, pedestrians, and cyclists.
The grade of the bridge is slight, but enough to add an interesting slant to the Williamsburg skyline when I use it as the perspective for my composition.
The two shots above show both structures from Cooperative Village and public housing on the Lower East Side of Manhattan as soon as you cross the East River.
As soon as you pass Cooperative Village, the train begins its journey underground into Lower Manhattan under Nassau Street.

Clang, Clang, Clang, Clang, Clang

In rapid succession, the title is the sound you hear when you are walking along and a train passes by. Broadway under the old BMT Jamaica Line (one of the oldest lines still in existence in the entire system) that carries the J,Z, and M Trains through Brooklyn to Jamaica Center in Queens. Taken near near the corner of Broadway and Union in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
