Yesterday's Sky

Did anyone notice the sky yesterday evening? It had the most interesting cloud and sunset formations.

Took this while waiting at a light.

Sunset from my front porch.

When using the slowest shutter speed, the moon starts to look like the sun.

We did notice the gorgeous pink sky and big, bright moon last night- you captured them well!

I noticed the pink sky as well. Gorgeous! You captured it well.

Tonight the moon should be even bigger and brighter - it'll be at its closest point to earth since 1993. Hopefully it'll be clear.

I'll definitely watch for it; it's kind of cloudy now, but I hope it clears out before the sun sets. The back of the building in which I live has a good unobstructed view of the sky which allows me to capture good shots of the sky. Clouds and the city's light pollution are the main issues I will have to contend with.

Awesome shots. Every time I look at your blog I'm reminded of what a POS photographer I am.

Thanks. Everytime I read your blog I'm reminded what a POS writer I am :)

BTW: What kind of camera do you use?

I'm currently using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5. It's a relatively new model in the Lumix series. I chose this point and shoot type model because a DSLR camera (which my girlfriend has) is a bit large and sometimes unpractical for my on-the-move method of photography. It has some of the nice benefits that a higher-end camera would offer; such as a multi-aspect Leica lens which sports an impressive 10x optical zoom capacity, for a camera of its size, and flexible shutter options that allow me to take nice night shots as well. My main gripes with it are the speed in which both the zoom and autofocusing operate.
