Indianapolis Neighborhoods - Stringtown

Bordered by White River to the east, roughly Michigan to the north, Washington Street to the south, and Tibbs to the West is an older neighborhood known as Stringtown. Stringtown is a working class neighborhood that feature streets of various ranges of conditions. Some parts are blighted or abandoned, where some are meticulously maintained. Hopefully as W. Michigan Street sees some new development like that of Michigan and Belmont, the neighborhood will see some as well.

Looking toward the downtown skyline from Vermont Street.

Also on Vermont Street...

A look on the other side of the fence...

The Cargill plant on White River Parkway...

These two local pubs don't appear to be in business...

I wish I had Jesse's grill...

Just south of Michigan Street

These things are fading fast...

This is on the north side of Michigan (which technically places it in Haughville) at its intersection of Belmont; I stopped and had a BBQ sandwich break while I was here...It was good :)

This was taken from my table , the lighting was bad for this time of day for indoor shots or else I would show you more of the inside.

Also on the north side of Michigan Street...

I watched "Hangover" this weekend and there was and one of the guys was looking for a bank of telephone booths and I starting thinking about the last time I have seen a pay phone. If you ever want to go a guest review on WIBIA (like Judge's) let me know!

WYA!: I only had a pulled pork sandwich and didn't get to try the sweet potato pie, but that sounds really good.

wouldibuyitagain: Sounds cool; Judge's is a good place to start...

I pass by a lot of these on my way to IMHM on Saturdays--there are some great old buildings along the way, and I always enjoy the trip.
