Along Raymond Street

This is a stretch of Raymond Street near Sherman Drive, just north of Beech Grove...

Sherman sunset...
For the vintage sign fans out there...Also at the corner of Sherman and Raymond Street.

Edwards has an americana (mmm...corndogs) menu similar to the Mug N Bun in Speedway.
Looking east on Raymond Street.

Spying from the Raymond Street Bridge a few blocks east of Sherman Dr.
Looking at the nearby St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove...
Grain Elevators

I grew a few blocks away from that intersection in Beech Grove. It feels odd to say I've only been to Edward's one time; we usually traveled south for dining.

Good lord, Mug n Bun is possibly the greatest restaurant of all time. Right up there with Burgermaster in Seattle.

Also, anyone now what the blue cage-type thing that looks like a partially built watertower is?

I believe its a gas silo at the now close Citizen's gas and coke plant.

Is that vintage EIFS on Edwards?

:)

And yes...that gas storage facility used to have hard sides all the way up the framework.

When it became possible for Citizens to buy gas for future delivery (instead of stockpiling) they didn't need the storage space. As I recall, the silo was reduced back in the 80's but the frame was left up.

Lol, for an authentic retro dining experience...

A kid who grows up in Carmel never gets to experience any of this. What a shame.

That first picture on the Wikipedia page is pretty close to what it used to look like (I believe)...

If anyone gets a firm date of when they are going to demo the remainder, post it here. I'd ride my bike over an watch.

I was curious about that before, but this is all I can really find about it:
