29th and Washington Bl

In the heart of Mapleton-Fall Creek; not far from Ivy Tech and the Children's Museum. Many of the intersections in this area have some interesting, and somewhat complicated attributes; especially at Fall Creek Pkwy about a block south of here.

I love your euphemism--"complicated". So delicately put. Here's what I can see:

- The offset intersection would be a safety hazard by today's transportation management standards. It's forgivable since this is old and would be hard to repair.
- The lovely cables suspending the stop lights really inspire confidence.
- Absence of a bus shelter and crosswalk striping. Granted, this is not a major intersection, but the latter of these two should be the standard in any walkable neighborhood.
- Is there any street signage?

I'd love to hear your impression of what complicates things. It remains a decent and potentially great neighborhood.

I believe there is street signage, but you would need to be a contortionist to see them if your were waiting at the intersection. I agree with all of your observations, but there is one more that comes to my mind; when you begin heading north from Fall Creek, the street curves. I frequently take this street, so I know to stay right, but if someone is not familiar, they might be confronted with a parked car before they know what’s happening.

This little hazard is made possible by the master of all 'complicated' intersections, Fall Creek/Delaware/Washington BL causing Washington to make a sharp swerve with little visibility
. Most of Mapleton-Fall Creek is pedestrian friendly (by Indianapolis standards) except for the areas affected by the expressway-resembling Fall Creek Pkwy.
