Over Prospect Street and Pleasant Run

These shots are taken from the top of the railroad overpass above Prospect Street, which is over Pleasant Run...

Looking downstream of Pleasant Run through the Citizen's gas and coke facility...

A wide angle view of the facility...

Just because :)

I really like your shots here ... and from yesterday in and around the Citizens Gas plant. That area intrigues me. It's in the middle of what was once the Southside's only developed (maybe "designated" is a better word) bike path/trail. The irony of routing a bike trail alongside a plant spewing noxious fumes (EPA found high levels of particulates in that area, you may remember) has always befuddled me. But I digress.

The railroad track picture I find particularly strong -- the monotone treatment, the wonderful perspective and that tall, wispy growth right in the middle of the track. Makes the already strong composition even more interesting. Also love your color tones in the Pleasant Run photo at the top.

Thanks guys! I think the particulate quantity in the air lead to the closure of the nearby school 21(I think thats the correct number) near Twin Aire. I still frequently walk the trail in that area, and although the facility is no longer operating, if the wind is right, you can still smell all of the plant's aromatic hydrocarbon goodness.

An interesting sidenote about that rail shot; I was actually laying down on my side on the track to get this shot. As a result, half my body instantly became blackened by a fine soot. If I ever come home clean after a photo shoot, I've done something wrong :)
