Indianapolis Relics - Pennsylvania Railroad Bridge

This section of the railroad was taken from Sherman Drive between Southeastern and English Avenue on the east side. This is one of my favorite railroad bridges in the city.

The bridge is stamped with the year of 1916, and it appears ground water has been working on it since about that time.

It was farsighted planning when these railroads were built, all through town they were raised above ground level so the streets would go under the tracks like this about everywhere.

It definitely was, the only thing I can't figure out is why the very same railroads go at grade on the east side of downtown; such as Newyork Street.
