My mom grew up just a few blocks north of that on Rural St. Is the old "Trash to Treasures" still there? We saw that as kids when we went to visit my grandmother and were always fascinated by it, though we never stopped there to shop!
I'm not for sure about the "Trash to treasures" for I had to take on a lot of snow to get to take this picture; got so much snow in my shoes so I didn't get a really good look at the area.
Think of it as the gum in the locks so to speak :)
The old "Trash To Treasures" has been redeveloped into non-profit offices and a credit union. There is also a very cool mural on the east side of the building (my favorite near east side mural).
