North Delaware Street

Hmmm from this angle, 3 Mass does kind of look like the bow of a cruise ship...

The tree in the church grounds could be the last remnant of the original oak forest in the Mile Square. I can't think of anywhere else there is another tree older than Indianapolis.

The Wyland mural Orcas Passage is on the other side of that white building to the left. He wanted to use the space on the side of a building on Washington St. but there was already a mural there and people started to squawk about painting over it;

I had no idea that tree was that old. Interesting side note; I was in the Florida Keys not too long ago and Robert Wyland's murals were everywhere.

This can help get us a ball park figure for the tree's age. It is likely a white oak. If the trunk is a yard wide it ought to be well over 200 years old. If the church has old pictures of the grounds that would help figure out how long the tree has been there.

A trip to the Kile Oak is worth a visit. That is even older. It's in the Irvington area.

Thanks for the awesome information! I know that the Southport/Homecroft area has some really large and mature trees as well.
