Brick Above and Below

I love brick and cobblestone paved streets; this one was taken on 10th Street in Indianapolis' St. Joseph neighborhood, just north of Downtown. Much like many of the brick streets in the neighborhoods of Indianapolis, it is in rough condition (which in my opinion adds to its gritty historic feel). I just hope some day in the future, they don't just pave them over like so many others within the neighborhoods.

The exact location is geotagged in Flickr and may be accessed by clicking the image...

A paving crew was putting down asphalt on Fletcher west of State today. I don't recall if that was still brick but east of State it IS brick (or was, a steamroller idling there so maybe it's next on their agenda).
