This is what is left of the old Indianapolis City Market after it was destroyed by a fire. This shot was obviously taken during winter time...

I believe the arch is from the old Tomlinson Hall. It was a arena/convention center of sorts and hosted boxing matches, political conventions and other civic meetings.
Yes it did burn, just a couple years before the City County Building was starting to go up.
It stood in the corner that is now the 'plaza' area.
I never figured out how the arch was hidden for so many years and then discovered. I guess the single story structure between the Hall and Market's main building survived the fire and was torn down during the 1970's makeover. But I've never seen anything written to that effect.
