In my opinion, the Central Avenue bridge over Fall Creek is one of the most interesting bridges in Indianapolis...
*I realized I forgot to link the images to their larger sizes; they are now linked.

I live at 28th and Delaware and I love the bridges both crossing Meridian and Central. Two unique aproaches IMHO. I spoke with a source at Axia and at A2SO4 about the area between the two bridges and it's pedestrian accessibility. Big things are planned of course being supported and pushed by Ivy Tech.
I agree with you about that bridge. Its plain but nonetheless interesting stonework distinguishes it from the more formal and carved Delaware-Meridian-Illinois-Capitol-Boulevard bridges downstream. The relatively wide sidewalks and pedestrian bump-outs that invite stopping distinguish it from the similar College Ave. bridge upstream.
Thanks Anonymous! Although it has sidewalks, its not very fun to be a pedestrian on the Meridian Street bridge, so I definitely look forward to the improvements. The Central Avenue bridge is indeed plain, but its definitely a timeless design; it would fit if it were around hundred years ago, and if its still here in a few hundred years from now.
Thanks for pointing this bridge out. At first one of your pictures made me think it was another bridge where sidewalks sit on one side of the structure; good to know this is not the case. This makes me interested in visiting some of the bridges on this side of town (such as the one on College that you mentioned) to see how safe/desirable they are for pedestrians.

Enjoyed the study of this bridge. I know it ... but just never thought to stop and look at it as your pictures enabled me to do. Thanks.
